I’ve been racing bikes in one form or fashion for what seems like forever (20ish years). My life is so intertwined with it, I really wouldn’t know what I’d do without it. I truly love the sport.

Over the years I’ve been successful in winning each of the state race titles at one time or another – road race, criterium, time trial, and the team time trial. Each one is special to me for one reason or another.

Some of my personal race wins that stick out in my mind are the ones in which I was the underdog, where on paper I’m outgunned and technically “shouldn’t” win because others in the race or break are more talented than I. But you shut that out of your mind, focus, and just race, knowing your teammates are counting on you. And sometimes, you come out on top.

That being said, I really enjoy being a team player. Its nice to be the one on the top step, but I’ve always said, if the team wins, we all win. It’s what I believe, and I believe my teammates and management at Elbowz feel the same way.

At the end of the day, what I like most about this sport is the community and camaraderie that makes it up; from newbie riders to the pros, race promoters and officials – as the winter fades, I can’t wait to hit the road to be with these folks – otherwise known as my friends. See you at the races!
