Once again, the hits keep coming.
First and foremost, “Bossman” Ben Spies rocks Assen again, racing to a stellar 4th place, one step off the podium.
On this side of the world, an abbreviated Elbowz Racing Crew of Tyler Jewell, Sean Sullivan, Mat Stephens and, hometown hero,
Joseph Schmalz headed out to the Tour of Lawrence.
On Friday night, at the Laird Noller Automotive Street Sprints, ”non-sprinter”, Joseph Schmalz impressed all with a 4th place ride
in the finals.
Saturday, at the KU Campus Circuit Race, the boys displayed sheer dominance and rode to a 1/2 finish with, everybody’s favorite Aussie, Sean Sullivan taking top honors. Joseph cleaned up for 2nd out of a small break.
On Sunday, at the Free State Brewery Downtown Criterium, the boys were clearey frazzled after Sully crashed hard (but is ok) in the closing laps of the criterium. Shaken and stirred, the remaining guys were still able to muster two top 20 finishes in a very deep and talent laden field.
Next week we’re off to the 51st Annual Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix.
